All Planning Applications affecting Bucklesham are decided by East Suffolk Council - Planning Department as the planning authority.

The Government is reforming the planning process to speed up the development process and to make it easier to build and deliver housing and major infrastructure. You can find out more by reading Planning Reform and What it Means For You.

East Suffolk Council is beginning work on a New Local Plan which will guide how the area grows and develops up to 2045. A Call For Sites was held between Monday 20th  October 2025 and Friday 9th January 2026 and has now closed. This invited submissions of sites for a wide range of uses including housing, employment and other development for consideration for inclusion in the new Local Plan. All sites can be viewed on the call for sites submission map.

From 10th June to 29th July 2026, ESC will be holding a Scoping Consultation on what matters most for the new Local Plan. We remain committed to keeping informed of all updates in the Local Plan process and attend all briefings offered by ESC.
