Highways management is one of the biggest issues faced by Bucklesham Parish Council and it is a topic that we are frequently contacted about.
Our roads and lanes are managed by Suffolk Highways, part of Suffolk County Council.
Bucklesham Parish Council work closely with our Highways Liaison Engineer, Josh White, to try and tackle these issues and achieve positive outcomes for our residents.
You can report all Highways issues on Suffolk Highways Report it tool.
All of the grit bins around the village are owned by the Parish Council and filled on an annual basis by East Suffolk. In the bad weather please feel free to scatter the grit over the roads to help keep them safe for all users. If you notice the grit levels in your bin are getting low, please contact clerk@buckleshamparishcouncil.gov.uk and we will arrange for them to be filled.
In 2021, following requests from residents, we purchased a Speed Indicator Device to try and encourage drivers to keep to 30mph while travelling through our village.
As is the rule of Suffolk Highways, the SID is moved every few weeks to one of two sights on Main Road. This is carried out by village volunteers who give up their time to help keep our roads safe. Data collected shows that the SID does have an impact on road users, although unfortunately not every single one.

In April every year the Parish Council carries out the Annual Village Litter Pick to try and keep our roads and lanes clean. Details will be in the Bucklesham Bugle and sent out on a Bugle Bulletin. Please do help us so that this not very pleasant task is not left to just a few people.
