Speed Watch Group

Your community needs you2

Many residents shared their concerns about the speed at which vehicles travel through the village with the Parish Council, so we have set up a Community Speed Watch. The group consists of residents who are all trained by Suffolk Police to record details of speeding vehicles using specialist equipment.

Speed Watch sessions are only on Main Road, Bucklesham and take up just one hour of the volunteers' time. We are a visible presence in the village but we are always looking for more volunteers to help make it viable.

Volunteers are highly visible to encourage drivers to be more speed aware. Speeding drivers are contacted by Suffolk Police explaining the potential consequences of their behaviour. If the same drivers are recorded speeding multiple times, Suffolk Police then visit them at their property for a more formal conversation.

We can be flexible with the days and times of these sessions to encourage more residents to join in and make our village a safer, more pleasant place to live.

Please be part of the change, join the Community Speed Watch and help us slow the traffic down.
