Flooding in Bucklesham

floods2The bottom end of Levington Lane does have a potential to flood when there has been a lot of rain. There is a natural dip in the land, and many years ago there was a pond here. If you look in the hedgerow you can see reeds growing.

Bucklesham Parish Council report this flooded road to Suffolk Highways on a regular basis. They tell us that unfortunately they do not have the funds to address this issue. The Clerk has met with Highways Liaison Engineer, Josh White, who saw for himself just how deep it can get.

Unfortunately, we have been told that the self help scheme are not permitted to undertake this work, so for now, please take great care when driving through the flood.  We will continue to lobby our Suffolk County Councillor to request that the grips on the verge are cleared which will allow most of the water to drain away.

There is often a flood at the other end of Levington Lane outside houses number 22 to 32. Please rest assured the Parish Council does report this issue as soon as the floods occur and we will continue to do so until the issue is solved. Here it is often a case of blocked drains and this is something that can be reported directly by residents on Suffolk County Council's Report it tool.
